Rotationally-Stabilized Magnetic Mirror Fusion

Mirror Fusion is developing a rotationally stabilized magnetic mirror that integrates modern pulsed power and advanced electromagnetics to pursue practical fusion energy in Bedford, Massachusetts, USA.

We combine experience in magnetic confinement physics with high-current, high-field engineering to advance technically grounded and economically scalable fusion systems.

Classical mirror machines suffered inherent magnetohydrodynamic instabilities and end losses which limited performance. Advances in pulsed power systems, high-field magnetic technology, and precision electromagnetic control now enable previously impractical machine configurations.

Our machine uses direct magnetic drive to inductively couple to the plasma and induce rotational shear, which suppresses instability modes.
